Traffic Calming Poll - It's Time to Decide

Residents of Kitchener, Hobson, Manilla, Fashoda and Cecil Roads have shared their concerns with:

  • speeding

  • volume of traffic

  • irresponsible driving

These issues are largely caused by drivers who ignore the no left and right turns in order to use their roads as a shortcut.

We have consulted the residents, our Councillors, the Council's Transport and Connectivity team. Better Streets for Birmingham, Sustrans and Transport for West Midlands to find solutions which will work and can be delivered.

The solutions will affect the character of our streets and how you use them, so we need you to tell us which of them you would like to happen or whether you'd prefer to keep things as they are.

If you are a resident of one of the affected streets, you can have your say by using our poll. It will take you through the proposals, their advantages and disadvantages and ask you rank them in order of preference. This will be done by asking you which option is your first choice, which is your second option, etc. There will be an option to keep things as they are. This will enable us to find the most popular proposal and see whether it is more popular than keep things as they are.

What happens next depends on the solution preferred by the residents of these roads.

  • Transport for West Midlands have worked with us on two of the options. If one of them is chosen it will be included in a scheme to improve bus travel on Pershore Road. The scheme will go out for wider consultation in September and be delivered over an 18 month period.

  • The other option would would be shared with the Council to see if there is any possibility of it being delivered at some point in the future.
